Ballerina Girl

Is it sick that I wish I could wear this?
Liv had her dress rehearsal last night. It took all the self-control in my body not to slap the shit out of some Jon Bonet looking mini-bitches. I had to wait two long hours backstage to watch my little flower sway on the stage and do a couple of pirouettes. It was worth the wait, let me assure you.

  1. Our dress rehearsal is this weekend, and the performance is next week. I know exactly what you mean (about everything except the whole wearing a tutu thing; not that there's anything wrong with that).

  2. Fuck ballet. I took ballet. For one month. At the age of five. Through the local Park District. My instructor told me, at the tender age of five in a room in a barn converted into classrooms for public activities, that I was ungraceful and would never be a real dancer.

Seriously? I am five. My previous dancing exposure consisted of bouncing and falling. I probably have applesauce stuck in my hair. You, Miss Teacher Lady, are a stupid bitch.

  3. Hey Rassles - we must have had the same teacher. I got told that too! Bet that teacher bitch didn't know we'd grow up to be power bloggers sticking pins in her wax image

  4. Please, if you decide to wear that somewhere, let me tag along. I have a matching one in pink and I look HOT in it!

  5. I nearly bought my grand daughter a purple and pink tutu the other day.It was lovely. As is your daughter.

When I was six I wanted to do ballet but my Father thought that was a hilarious idea. He laughed and laughed. I remember him saying something along the lines of me being a dancing elephant. I remember feeling huge, ugly and clumsy. Needless to say I didn't go to ballet lessons.
I had forgotten about that until Rassles comment reminded me.

  6. I always wanted to take ballet when I was a little girl but was never allowed because of religious and financial reasons. I'm sure I would have been told I didn't have a dancer's body or wasn't graceful, etc. I took some ballet classes when I was 14/15 years old. I totally sucked at it but I loved it. I'm sorry your dance teacher was so mean to you Rassles and Nurse Myra. It makes me really, really angry. And I can't believe your dad would laugh at you like that Frogspond. I'm sorry that happened.

  7. She's damn cute. And I don't think that it's completely sick that you would want to wear it...

  8. My daughter takes dance because she asked me several times or I would have skipped it.

I refuse to partake in the recital.

  9. Oh Gwen, I admit I would like a neon green tutu to wear to the barn with my muck boots. And I DO mean that. As I'm sure you already know.
She is TOO cute! That little face says to me, "I am AMAZED and HAPPY!" Cool stuff.
I took ballet from a woman who carried a big stick for beating. It was all an act. She never touched anyone with it. I ended up giving her son a ride to school every day when I was a Sophomore in HS because she was too drunk to get him there. Kind of a sad story, eh?
